Once you receive your Berkey System, we recommend taking the following steps in order to make the most out of beginning to use your Berkey Water System:
1. Inspect your system & confirm you have all parts.
Once you remove your Berkey from the box, inspect the chambers, lid, and spigot visibly. Do the same for your Black Berkey Elements. If any parts are missing, please contact the authorized dealer who sold you your system.
For the stainless steel systems, the following parts are included:
(1) Lid
(1) Lid screw + washer
(1) Black lid handle knob
(1) Upper Chamber
(1) Lower Chamber
(1) Rubber ring for Lower Chamber
(2) Spigot Washers + (1) plastic spigot
(1) Pair of Black Berkey Elements + Tan priming washer + Instructions
*For Big, Royal, Imperial, and Crown Berkey Systems, blocking plugs are provided for each hole in the top chamber minus two holes (for the included Black Berkey Elements). The Go Berkey Kit and Travel Berkey Systems do not come with blocking plugs.
(1) Berkey Filter Priming Starter Kit ((1) Prime Rite™ Universal Adapter & Fluoride Element Adapter, (1) Anti-Airlock Clip, and (2) Red Food Dye Vials
For the Berkey Light System, the following parts are included:
(1) Fabric Lid
(1) Upper Chamber
(1) Lower Chamber
(1) Plastic Berkey Base
(2) Spigot Washers + (1) plastic spigot
(1) Pair of Black Berkey Elements + Tan priming washer + Instructions
(1) Pair of blocking plugs
(1) Berkey Filter Priming Starter Kit ((1) Prime Rite™ Universal Adapter & Fluoride Element Adapter, (1) Anti-Airlock Clip, and (2) Red Food Dye Vials
2. Hand wash your Berkey System prior to use & allow to air-dry. DO NOT WASH THE BLACK BERKEY ELEMENTS.
3. Prime the Black Berkey Elements & run the red food coloring test with the provided Filter Priming Starter Kit.
4. After the Black Berkey Elements have passed the red food coloring test, you are safe to begin using your system.
If you are using the optional PF-2 Fluoride & Arsenic Reduction Filters, be sure to prime them and then attach per the instructions. NEVER PERFORM THE RED FOOD COLORING TEST ON OR WITH THE PF-2 FILTERS ATTACHED.
